16.07.2011. Summer School Human development: economic and philosophical aspects

The Summer School Human development: economic and philosophical aspects organized by the Faculty of Economics at Moscow State University (MSU) and sponsored by the Oxford Russia Fund was held on July 10-16, 2011 on MSU premises.

Future economists, politologists, sociologists, philosophers, historians, lawyers, teachers, psychologists and philologists form the leading Russian universities (see the list below), the winners of the essay contest entitled The role of the individual in contemporary Russia, became participants of the Summer School.

The Summer School agenda included lectures and discussions with the special emphasis on the interdisciplinary approach of the Human Development concept and its practical application.

Representatives from UNDP Russia attended one of the sessions devoted to the role of UNDP in mainstreaming human development. The listeners were presented with the opportunity to see the recently launched internet portal Human Development: new measurement of socio-economic development consisting of the interactive educational module and statistical module comprising 100 indicators for Russian regions. The internet portal was established in the framework of the UNDP Project Mainstreaming Human Development in Russia .
